MAMA MOON & HER STAR BABIES

I’ve always been a fan of visual personifications. As a lover of character design, I think I’ve always found it exciting to give life to inanimate objects and to make a character out of nothing. Redesigns of the moon and sun are nothing new but they’re always fun to reimagine! As a mental breather I decided to make my own moon character but as the piece was underway I expanded on the concept, making the stars the moon’s children and from that a beautiful concept blossomed! Loving the way this piece came out I thought I’d just had to try the same thing with the sun!

Continuing with the astronomy concept, I developed this as a couple to the moon piece. These pieces were created a few days before I started my senior year. Here I had a lot of fun playing with light which became one of the bases for my senior thesis. Of course the sun had to have kids too hence the cloud children. It was the kids that became the huge focus of my branding! I would love to see a bigger narrative develop from this concept in the future.
